For this winter, the Géraldine Banier Gallery chose to present a personal exhibition of Sylvie Mangaud. Represented for eight years by the gallery, and now shown in numerous woldwide collections, we offer today to the spectator’s look a totally unknown side of her creation : the preparatory sketches.
It’s after graphology and morphology studies that Sylvie chose to turn towards the artistic creation. Fascinated by the strength of the body language she tries and catches its essence. She soon chose the bronze to represent these "postures" she likes : Attitude, Cool, Malice, Libertine. She plays with the material from which she removes all the gravity by building aerial and slender feminine lines.
From this pure line are also born some fantastic animals, svelte elephants, proud and fragile horses and zebus with an undeniable elegance.
For the first time the Gallery chose to put in perspective the artist drawings which highlight the origins of her sculptures. These small nervous pencil sketches are the expression of the research for the perfect slope, for the movement which invested the paper sheet before taking shape in the bronze. In this important retrospective, the Géraldine Banier Gallery will also display a set of new bronze sculptures, to discover until January 16th
